Obama’s Tendency to Choose Anti-Israeli Advisors

Posted on August 21, 2008. Filed under: B. Hussein Obama's real record as a "reformer" |

Taking a look at Obama’s advisors continues to show politics as usual, or at least, liberal politics as usual. Notice that there are no rumors of Obama appointing any Republicans to any positions if he becomes president. Conversely, McCain is seen as almost certain to appoint Joseph Lieberman to a cabinet position. Those who Obama is currently relying on for advice along with those he has said will be appointed to executive positions is just plain frightening. A brief highlighting a couple of his current and past advisors in his campaign shows how similar Obama is to all of the other Democrats.

Most of the main economic problems and security threats focus on the Middle East. It is crucial we have an administration in the White House that will protect our allies and the US’s interests in the region. Obama has already proven that he has very bad judgment in who advises him on relations with this region of the world. Warning lights should have gone off, especially after Obama received an endorsement from Hamas chief political advisor, Ahmed Yousef. Hamas is a terrorist organization who constantly expresses their wish to wipe our main ally in that region, Israel, from the map. With the stakes in the Middle East being as high as they are; Obama must be questioned about his views and the views of those he relies on for advice.

One of Obama’s Mid-East advisors has already been forced to step down when he was found to be having secret meetings with the terrorist group Hamas. Robert Malley is the advisor in question. AmericanThinker.com says that Mally’s father, Simon Malley, was born in Syria, spent long hours with and became a trusted friend of Yasser Arafat. Simon Malley also had deep anti-Israeli convictions. A look at Malley’s past writings shows that his father passed his anti-Semitic views onto his son. Today, Malley is Director of the International Crisis Group which has links to George Soros and shares the billionaire’s conviction that the pro-Israel stance taken by the US government needs to be broken.

In May 2008, it was drawn to the public’s attention through the Times of London, that Malley had been holding undisclosed, private meetings with Hamas. Malley had written nationally published opinion pieces claiming that the US should support third party negotiations with Hamas to solve the violence in the Middle East instead of treating Hamas as the terrorist group they are. When Malley was forced to resign from Obama’s Middle East advisory council, the campaign used their tried-and-true method of throwing supporters under the bus by claiming Malley had no formal role in Obama’s campaign.

Another key advisor that has a very anti-Semitic history is retired Air Force chief of staff Merrill McPeak. McPeak was Air Force chief of staff under President Clinton and is currently co-chairman of Obama’s presidential campaign committee and military advisor. On March 8, 2008 World Net Daily discussed a 2003 interview with McPeak where he answered the question of what is the main problem in solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. His reply to this question was, “New York City. Miami. We have a large vote here in favor of Israel. And no politician wants to run against it.” Essentially McPeak is blaming the Mid-East conflict on the Jewish populations in Miami and New York City. McPeak has also gone so far as to compare Hamas and Hezbollah to Christian religious extremists in Oregon. Despite Hamas and Hezbollah’s past of launching hundreds of missiles indiscriminately into Israel and publicly voicing their desire to erase Israel off of the planet, McPeak still believes they are the same as radical Christian groups. McPeak also has claimed that the evangelical Christian organizations in the US are driving the country’s Israel foreign policy in an effort to fulfill the Gospel and prepare for the second coming of Jesus Christ. It is fair to say, McPeak’s views on Israel are not mainstream, at least outside of the Democrat Party.

Having one proven anti-Semite in his staff can be attributed to appointing someone before fully checking their background. However, when Obama has other well-known anti-Semites on his staff plus policies that win the support of Hamas along with donors with the same anti-Israel beliefs, it begs the question of whether or not you are seeking such people. Obama has his own anti-Israeli beliefs that will be covered soon on the Anti-Obamassiah Refuge.

None of the examples listed here help to distance Obama from any other Democrat politician or Daily Koz blogger. In fact, Obama is just as rooted as many other prominent liberals in the anti-Israel policies often voiced in the Democrat Party and hard-core liberal bloggers. With the current economic problems and national security threats attributed to the situation in the Middle East, the US cannot afford to hand over the reins to someone with such a distorted view of just what Middle East policy is in America’s best interest. It appears that Obama needs to be in the federal government for more than three years before he is ready to lead the free world. Actually, from looking at his career thus far between the US Senate and Illinois Senate, Obama probably still will not be prepared. As long as he is listening to people that buy into the terrorist organizations’ excuses for wanting to annihilate Israel, he will not be ready to face our enemies on the international scene. The United States cannot afford to have a president who surrounds himself with advisors that sympathize with those who want to destroy the great ally we have in Israel.

Is this really a new type of politician? Or is the Obama machine just using politics as usual in their campaign?
